Placing your trust in the right company can
be just as difficult as choosing a conservatory that will
meet your needs.
Our range of Warmlux heated conservatories
has been specifically designed to suit the Scottish climate
and we believe that the innovation used in the construction
of our product places us at the forefront of conservatory
design.
Our range of conservatories is available throughout
West and Central Scotland. We only design and build heated
conservatories and we would maintain that no other conservatory
supplier can offer the same level of experience, service
or expertise.
WHY
CHOOSE A HEATED CONSERVATORY?
The results of market research carried out in 2001 indicated
that many conservatory buyers were choosing a conservatory
as an alternative to an extension. Many consumers felt let
down by the lack of insulation in their product, which resulted
in a conservatory that was far too cold throughout the winter
months for the use they had intended. Most potential conservatory
purchasers are not aware that standard conservatories do
not achieve the insulation standards required by local authority
to ensure that they are approved for all year round use.
This means that permanent heating is not permitted in a standard
conservatory.
Clearly conservatory buyers were buying products,
which were not fit for the purpose they intended!
Our eureka
moment came by probing building control standards and researching
the very best insulation products available until such times
as we had a design that would meet local authority building
control departments standards for a heated conservatory.
From that moment Scotia decided only to design and build
their range of Warmlux heated conservatories. Our belief
is that the benefit of our design which allows our products
to be used all year round by far out weighs any cost saving
arguments that can be made for standard conservatories.
WHAT
ARE HEATED CONSERVATORIES AND HOW DO THEY DIFFER FROM ORDINARY
CONSERVATORIES?
Building regulations state that for a conservatory
to be considered a heated conservatory strict insulation
standards must be observed for cavity walls, flooring, double
glazed frames and of course the conservatory roofing materials.
These improvements to the insulation mean that the central
heating from your home can be extended into the conservatory.
Ordinary conservatories are not designed to these high insulation
standards and therefore permanent heating systems are not
allowed.
WHAT ARE INSULATION STANDARDS?
The method used to measure the level of insulation is called
a U-value. A U-value is a measure of heat loss through a
material. Therefore the lower the U-value, the less heat
that is needlessly escaping. For example a standard conservatory
cavity wall construction provides a U-value of 0.54. In our
Warmlux heated conservatories the level achieved is 0.27
- 100% better.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A WARMLUX HEATED CONSERVATORY?
The Major benefits of a Warmlux heated conservatory is that
unlike ordinary conservatories it's designed to be used all
year round. That can make all the difference in the world.
Imagine sharing quality time with family and friends in those
cold winter months contrasted with a standard conservatory
which could be unusable for two months of the year.
A Warmlux
heated conservatory benefits in other ways. The added insulation
in Warmlux helps to keep your conservatory cooler during
the summer month whilst the very same insulation retains
heat within your conservatory during the winter. You will
also benefit because whilst all local authorities insist
on external grade PVC-U connecting doors leading from your
home to your conservatory. With a heated conservatory the
connecting doors are considered part of your home and can
therefore be installed with beautiful hardwood connecting
doors. These can be fitted without a threshold unlike PVC-U
doors.
WILL THE EXTRA INSULATION BE MORE COSTLY?
The extra measures taken to insulate your conservatory will
add to the price our salesperson quotes, however, you must
consider that a Warmlux heated conservatory works hard to
save money on future heating bills. In addition you have
the benefit of being able to use the extra space all year
round.
QUALITY
All the window and door frames we use in the construction
of your conservatory are approved by the British Standards
Institute (BSI) for their quality, security, durability and
weatherproofing. In addition all our conservatory window
and doors have been assessed and approved by British Board
of Agreement (BBA) to ensure a quality product which in the
words of BBA "will have a life of at least 25 years" Scotia
are the only manufacturer based in the West of Scotland to
have attained both of these accreditations.
RIGID STRUCTURE
Every mullion in your conservatory will be fitted with a
substantial aluminium post in each mullion which ensures
that our structure is much more rigid than our competitors.
With this type of design you may find that for an identical
conservatory design we may manufacture fourteen separate
frames whilst our competitors would only manufacture four.
This makes a substantial difference to the strength of all
Scotia conservatories and provides you with a product that
will withstand the rigours of our Scottish weather
